Oral Hygiene

Promoving Good Habits of Oral Hygiene

The main objectives of the Oral Hygiene consultation are the prevention and early detection of oral diseases and the education and promotion of good oral health habits. As a routine, it includes the removal of accumulated tartar, pigmentation and plaque, as well as the polishing of dental surfaces. In addition, whenever oral health problems are detected (cavities, dental fissures, gingivitis, periodontitis or others), referral is made to the appropriate specialty areas.

It is recommended that you make a regular oral hygiene appointment every 6 months or, where appropriate, at shorter intervals recommended by your dentist. This regular practice can prevent the deterioration of oral health and the need for expensive treatments in the future.

At this appointment we also remind our patients of all the good oral hygiene habits and practices that will help eliminate food residues that accumulate between the teeth and gums and over time can have negative consequences, such as the appearance of cavities.

The gums are the tissue that covers the bone and supports the teeth and therefore need special care. Even though many people don't pay enough attention to this area, it's important to always be on the lookout for any signs that are out of the ordinary. Regular visits to oral hygiene appointments are a determining factor in the integrity of the treatments carried out and maintaining a beautiful, healthy smile over time.

What does our oral hygiene appointment include?

1

Scaling

We remove tartar and plaque that has accumulated on the teeth, especially in areas that are difficult to reach during daily brushing. This procedure is essential for preventing gum disease and maintaining healthy teeth.

2

Bicarbonate jet

We use the baking soda jet to remove stains and surface residues caused by drinks such as coffee, food or smoking habits. This process helps whiten teeth and provides a deep-cleaning sensation.

3

Polishing

We finish with a detailed polish to leave your teeth smooth and shiny. As well as improving the aesthetics of your smile, polishing helps prevent plaque build-up.

4

Complete check-up

We assess all the parameters of your oral health, allowing us to identify any signs or problems early on.

5

Information and motivation for good oral hygiene habits

We teach you the correct brushing and flossing techniques, with tips for maintaining good oral health, and advise you on the right products customized for you.
